Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Grace R. Kennedy, who serves patients in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

A board-certified pulmonologist in practice since 1995, Dr. Kennedy is affiliated with Utica Park Clinic, seeing patients at their two offices in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She gives each patient the time they need to explain their unique situation and concerns. While she is particularly skilled in the areas of asthma, pulmonary hypertension, COPD and interstitial lung disease, she welcomes the opportunity to help patients with any pulmonary concerns.

“Helping a patient breathe helps give them their independence back. When you can’t breathe well, you aren’t able to participate in many of the activities that make your life more enjoyable” expressed the doctor.

Academically, she graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology. She earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree in 1988 from the Oklahoma State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Tulsa. She completed her rotating internship at Grandview Hospital in 1989, and completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1992. Finally, she completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center Parkland Hospital in 1995.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine (AOBIM). The AOBIM is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of disease in adults.

On a professional level, Dr. Kennedy is an active member of the American College of Chest Physicians, the American Thoracic Society, the American Medical Association, the Oklahoma State Medical Association, the Oklahoma Osteopathic Association, and the American College of Physicians.

Prior to joining Utica Park Clinic, she cared for patients at Parkland Hospital in Dallas, Texas; Pulmonary Medicine Associates in Tulsa; Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa and AAIC Asthma Allergy Immunology/MedRite in Tulsa.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.
