Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Daniel E. Wesche, who serves patients in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Dr. Wesche is an expert surgeon bringing over 25 years of experience to Flagstaff Surgical Associates. He treats patients of all ages and genders as well as focuses on general, pediatric, and laparoscopic surgery, a minimally invasive surgical procedure.

Flagstaff Surgical Associates offers specialty health care services to men, women, and children living in Flagstaff, Arizona. The board-certified physicians excel in performing minimally invasive procedures and surgeries to treat a wide variety of conditions, including obesity, sleep apnea, thyroid disease, sexual dysfunction, allergies, kidney and gallbladder disease, and vaginal atrophy. They work within three specialist departments – urology, ENT (ear, nose, and throat, including allergy and audiology), and general surgery – aiming to provide residents of Northern Arizona with patient-centered surgical care that consistently achieves superior levels of quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.

Coming from a family of doctors, Dr. Wesche graduated with his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1990. Furthering his training, he completed both his internship and residency in general surgery at Maricopa Medical Center. While there, he worked as an instructor, staff physician, and attending physician in general surgery.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Recognized as a respected speaker and author who has published many articles on his fields of interest in surgery, Dr. Wesche is proud to be a key member of surgical care solutions and professionals in the Northern Arizona area. In addition to having been on a number of boards, he has served as the chair of surgery and the medical director of trauma services at Flagstaff Medical Center.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

When Dr. Wesche is not working, he enjoys biking, skiing, and hiking with his wife and kids.
