Coming from a family of doctors, Dr. Wesche graduated with his medical degree from the Saint Louis University School of Medicine in 1990. Furthering his training, he completed both his internship and residency in general surgery at Maricopa Medical Center. While there, he worked as an instructor, staff physician, and attending physician in general surgery.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Recognized as a respected speaker and author who has published many articles on his fields of interest in surgery, Dr. Wesche is proud to be a key member of surgical care solutions and professionals in the Northern Arizona area. In addition to having been on a number of boards, he has served as the chair of surgery and the medical director of trauma services at Flagstaff Medical Center.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland.
