For his undergraduate and medical studies, Dr. Patel attended M.S. University- Baroda in India. He completed his residency in internal medicine at United Hospital Medical Center in Newark, New Jersey and his fellowship in cardiology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. He also completed a fellowship in interventional cardiology at Beth Israel Medical Center and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

With more than four decades of experience, he is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease, and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Furthermore, he is board-certified in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, and in echocardiography by the National Board of Echocardiography.

Published in the Journal of Applied Cardiology, Dr. Patel is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP).

Licensed to practice medicine in New Jersey, he is affiliated with JFK Medical Center, Raritan Bay Medical Center, and Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology.
