Get to know Physiatrist, Dr. Tanisha A. Toaston, who serves patients of Texas.

A top physiatrist, Dr. Toaston currently serves as the Spinal Cord Injury Program Director at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of the Mid-Cities in Bedford, Texas.

Likewise, she sees patients at The Forum Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and serves on the consulting staff at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children in Dallas.

A graduate of Prairie View A&M University, Dr. Toaston earned her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2004. She completed her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Baylor University Medical Center and her fellowship in Spinal Cord Injury Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the Dallas Veteran Affairs Hospital.

Subsequent to her education, she attained board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation through the American  Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The ABPMR is an organization that provides board certification to qualified physicians who specialize in the treatment of patients with physical impairments and disabilities.

Professionally, Dr. Toaston is a proud member of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, the Association of Spinal Cord Injury Professionals, the National Medical Association, the Texas Osteopathic Medical Association, and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
