Get to know Family Physician Dr. Monica A. Lumpkin, who serves patients in Sacaton, Arizona.

Dr. Lumpkin is a family physician who strives for individualized patient-directed care. She sees her role as a doctor as a collaboration between the patient and herself.

Dr. Lumpkin is currently serving patients at Gila River Health Care in Sacaton, Arizona. As a healthcare entity of the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC), Gila River Health Care strives to treat people with kindness, dignity, and respect while providing the highest quality of patient care in a culturally sensitive way.

Dr. Lumpkin is also affiliated with Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital in Sacaton, Arizona.

Dr. Lumpkin is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Founded in 1969, the ABFM is a not-for-profit, private organization whose mission is to improve the health of the public through board certification, residency training, research, leadership development, and by promoting the development of the specialty of family medicine.

Dr. Lumpkin grew up in Indiana. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish studies from Wellesley College in Wellesley, Massachusetts. She then went on to attend Tufts University School of Medicine, where she received her medical degree. Dr. Lumpkin completed her residency in family medicine at the Shasta Community Health Center in Redding, California.

Dr. Lumpkin is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). The AAFP works to solidify family medicine as the cornerstone of a functioning health care system. The mission of the AAFP is to improve the health of patients, families, and communities by serving the needs of members with professionalism and creativity.

Family medicine, formerly family practice, is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. As a family physician, Dr. Lumpkin provides a full range of healthcare services, treating all genders and age groups and building long-term patient relationships.

Dr. Lumpkin is married with 3 children and 3 dogs. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, travelling, and taking an interest in preventive health. Her goal in life is to travel to all 50 states and to all the continents.

In addition to English, Dr. Lumpkin speaks Spanish.
