Dr. Joseph P. Stevenson, a highly respected cardiologist with over two decades of experience, has recently joined the esteemed team at Reno Heart and Vascular Institute, solidifying the institution’s commitment to providing top-tier cardiovascular care in Northern Nevada.

Dr. Stevenson, a founding member of Reno Heart and Vascular Institute, has been a prominent figure in the medical community of Northern Nevada since 2000. His journey in healthcare began as a Respiratory Therapist at various renowned medical centers in Illinois, including Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Ascension Alexian Brothers, and Endeavor Health Northwest Community Hospital.

A graduate of Midwestern University Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. Stevenson completed his residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiology at Rush Presbyterian – St. Luke’s Medical Center. He holds board certification in cardiovascular diseases with a special emphasis on pulmonary hypertension, showcasing his expertise in complex cardiac conditions.

Beyond his clinical practice, Dr. Stevenson is deeply involved in medical education. He serves as an Associated Clinical Professor of Medical Education at the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and an Adjunct Clinical Professor of Medicine at Touro University Medical School in Las Vegas. His dedication to shaping the next generation of healthcare professionals is evident in his commitment to academic excellence.

When he is not attending to patients or teaching, Dr. Stevenson finds solace in outdoor activities. An avid skier and cyclist, he believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance to provide the best care for his patients.
