Get to know Rheumatologist Dr. Amir M. Agha, who serves patients in Anderson, South Carolina.

Dr. Agha is a rheumatologist who is currently serving patients at AnMed Health Medical Center – Foothills Rheumatology in Anderson, South Carolina. AnMed Health is a dynamic, comprehensive health system that has been providing health care for residents of eight counties in upstate South Carolina and northeast Georgia for over 100 years. Dr. Agha earned his medical degree from Sindh Medical College. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine at SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn, followed by his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in rheumatology at Cooper University Health Care. 

Dr. Agha is board-certified in rheumatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Agha is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology (FACR). The ACR is an ethically-driven, professional membership organization committed to improving the care of patients with rheumatic disease and advancing the rheumatology subspecialty.

Rheumatology is a branch of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of rheumatic diseases. Physicians who have undergone formal training in rheumatology are called rheumatologists. Rheumatologists, like Dr. Agha, treat arthritis, autoimmune diseases, pain disorders affecting joints, and osteoporosis. There are more than 200 types of these diseases, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, lupus, back pain, osteoporosis, and tendinitis.
