Get to know Urologist Dr. Iris B. Bernstein, who serves patients in Tucson, Arizona. 

Dr. Bernstein is a board-certified urologist and the Medical Director of Urology Care, P.C. in Tucson, Arizona. She treats men and women with the same exacting standards but has a special interest in female urology.

Her medical expertise and skill set her apart as an expert in the field of general urology. Her patients also love her dedication to providing kind, respectful, patient-focused care that is echoed by the entire Urology Care team.

Providing exceptional urological care that is designed to help patients feel better and reclaim their wellness, some of the issues that she and her team address include: urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, pelvic floor issues such as vaginal prolapse and painful intercourse, urinary tract infections, kidney stones, and prostate enlargement (BPH).

In practice in the Tucson area since 1999, Dr. Bernstein earned two undergraduate degrees (biology and psychology) from Stanford University in 1989. She received her medical degree from the University of California San Diego School of Medicine in 1993. She then went on to complete her training, including residencies in general surgery and urology, at the University of California, San Diego in 1999.

With years of experience in her field, she is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. 

A talented physician, Dr. Bernstein is committed to treating her patients with truly exceptional urological care, which includes an individualized, well-rounded healthcare regimen that is focused on building a long-term patient/doctor relationship based on trust and accountability. She also understands that urological issues are not always easy to discuss. She and her team work hard to create a welcoming environment that makes it easy for their patients to share concerns.

Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, prostate, urethra, ureters, kidneys.

In honor of her clinical expertise, Dr. Bernstein is the recipient of a Patients’ Choice Award (2016).
