Get to know Psychiatrist Dr. Vivian Charneco, who serves patients in Kissimmee, Florida.
Dr. Charneco is a board-certified child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist with over 25 years of experience treating mental health and behavioral conditions. This experience led her to start Mindful Behavioral Healthcare in Kissimmee, with the mission to provide innovative and comprehensive psychiatric mental health and related services to patients of all ages through a holistic approach. She offers traditional psychiatric treatment and other alternative techniques to promote wellness to all by integrating mind, body, and spirit. Her goal is to create a professional, supportive, and dignified environment that will facilitate an open expression of ideas, feelings, and thoughts by providing assessment, treatment, education, and training.
After earning her medical degree from Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico, Dr. Charneco relocated to the United States to complete her residency in child & adolescent psychiatry and her fellowship in child, adolescent, and adult psychiatry at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also received training in psychoanalysis at the Philadelphia Psychoanalytic Institute.
She then became board-certified in child & adolescent psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting high quality patient care for the public through the initial and continuing certification of psychiatrists and neurologists.
Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to diagnosing, preventing, and treating mental disorders. These include various maladaptations related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions. Psychiatrists analyze and evaluate patient data and test or examination findings to diagnose the nature and extent of mental disorder. They design individualized care plans using a variety of treatments, as well as may collaborate with physicians, psychologists, social workers, psychiatric nurses or other professionals to discuss treatment plans and progress. Having held different professional roles throughout her career at several settings, Dr. Charneco has applied and improved her knowledge in adult, adolescent, and adult psychiatry.
In addition to English, she speaks Spanish. In order to remain up to date in her field, she is a member of the American Psychiatric Association, the Florida Psychiatric Society, and the PanAmerican Medical Association.
