Get to know Intensivist Dr. Nathan Gilmore, who serves patients throughout the State of California.

Dr. Gilmore is an insightful, dedicated, and inspirational leader who brings innovation and data-driven improvements to the healthcare sector. His extensive list of titles includes being a board-certified intensivist at Newport Critical Care Physicians, serving as the Medical Director of the American Career College, holding the position of Chief of Service for Critical Care Medicine at Hoag Hospital, and acting as the Chief Medical Director of Anew Therapy. Additionally, he is a valued member of the staff at CHOC Mission Hospital.

A physician specialist and leader in healthcare administration, Dr. Gilmore has successful experience leading quality improvement teams with high yield results. He is the Director of Lean and Healthcare Quality Improvement training program, where he imparts his knowledge to clinical teams, including physicians, administrative professionals, and support staff.

His expertise extends to various healthcare systems, and Dr. Gilmore is well-versed in working with different IT platforms such as EPIC, Cerner Powerchart, SCM Allscripts, and Meditech. He combines his front-line experience and data insights with extensive big data analysis to guide data-driven change management, making a significant impact in the healthcare field.

A 2010 graduate of the University of Utah School of Medicine, Dr. Gilmore went on to perform his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. His commitment to medical excellence led him to pursue a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville.

In 2017, Dr. Gilmore expanded his expertise by earning a Master of Business Administration Degree from the Brigham Young University Marriott School of Business, further enhancing his skills and knowledge in the healthcare field.

Board certified in both emergency medicine and critical care medicine, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM is one of 24 medical specialty certification boards recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Intensive care medicine, also called critical care medicine, is a medical specialty that deals with seriously or critically ill patients who have, are at risk of, or are recovering from conditions that may be life-threatening. An intensivist, also known as a critical care doctor, is a medical practitioner who specializes in the care of critically ill patients, most often in the intensive care unit (ICU).
