Dr. Utz, a board-certified cardiologist, is highly skilled in preventing, diagnosing, and treating both routine and complex cardiac and vascular conditions. She can be found on staff at the Cardiovascular Institute of Carolina at Aiken Regional Medical Centers in Aiken, South Carolina.

A member of the American College of Cardiology, Dr. Utz graduated with her medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in 1996. She then went on to complete her internship in general surgery at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, Tennessee. This was followed by a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at the Medical College of Georgia. 

To further her professional development, the doctor earned board certification in both internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine, which is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. She also earned board certification in nuclear cardiology by the American Board of Nuclear Cardiology, 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as some parts of the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).
