7650 E Parham Rd Suite 215 Henrico VA, 23294About
Dr. David Weiss is a foot and ankle specialist practicing in Richmond, VA. He is a physician specializing in treating the foot, ankle, and related parts of the leg. Dr. Weiss is Board-Certified by the American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery. He has specialized in Reconstructive Foot Surgery for 30 years. His specialty is also in Regenerative Medicine. This is an exciting new field of medicine where placental stem cells are used to repair injuries. It's the latest "Star Trek" medical treatment that is nothing short of miraculous. Stem Cell injections treat recalcitrant plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, tendon tears, arthritis, peripheral neuropathy, slow-healing fractures, plantar plate tears, and many other problems seen in the lower extremities. Dr. Weiss is a frequent national speaker on using Stem Cells in the Foot & Ankle and has been published.
Another common problem is the loss of the fat pad in the foot. This is called Plantar Fat Pad Atrophy. This debilitating condition creates severe pain in the bottom of the foot due to the loss of the natural fat padding seen with aging or trauma. Dr. Weiss has pioneered the techniques used to manage fat pad atrophy. He has lectured nationally on this treatment and has been published in peer-reviewed medical journals.

Is the recovery after bunion surgery painful?
This is a difficult question because there are over 100 types of bunion procedures! Most Board Certified Foot & Ankle Surgeons (American Board of Foot & Ankle Surgery) are trained in the latest and most effective methods, and the techniques are proven to minimize discomfort afterward. I have been fixing bunions for over 30 years. I'm in the OR 3 days a week. Approx 90% of our patients will tell me: "it is nowhere near as painful as my (friend or family member) said it would be." Also, pain is very subjective. The first few days are typically uncomfortable but highly manageable with ice, elevation, and pain meds (if needed). READ MORE
