Get to know Pediatric Infectious Diseases Specialist Dr. Usha Phillips, who serves patients in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Recognized as a top pediatric infectious diseases specialist, Dr. Phillips is in practice with MountainView Medical Group Children’s Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Licensed to practice medicine in the state of New Mexico, she is affiliated with MountainView Regional Medical Center, Memorial Medical Center, Rehabilitation Hospital of Southern New Mexico, and Advanced Care Hospital of Southern New Mexico.
Educated in India, Dr. Phillips graduated from Stanley Medical College at a very young age. She served in the Indian Army Medical Corp, where she had the opportunity to travel and was exposed to underserved populations in the border areas. She started her pediatric career in 1982, having received her diploma in child health in India.
Thereafter, she migrated to the United States and worked in New York, New Jersey, and Philadelphia in general pediatrics and emergency medicine. She specialized in pediatric infectious diseases from the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and, after a decade in infectious disease, decided to move to the warmer weather of New Mexico. Dr. Phillips is currently working towards certification in childhood obesity.
A Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric (FAAP) and a member of the Royal College of Pediatricians in England, Dr. Phillips is board-certified in pediatrics and pediatric infectious diseases by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.
