Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Frank Ruiz, who serves patients in New Jersey.

Dr. Ruiz is a practicing, board-certified gastroenterologist at Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey. He sees patients at the offices in Clifton and Rutherford, New Jersey, where his philosophy is to make them feel as comfortable as possible with him and with the level of care he provides. 

Gastroenterology Associates of New Jersey is an integrated group practice composed of a team of highly skilled gastroenterologists. As part of their dedication to complete care, the board-certified physicians and professional staff will effectively evaluate, diagnose, and treat acute and chronic gastrointestinal conditions and diseases. With locations throughout four counties in northern New Jersey, the multidisciplinary practice offers coordinated and comprehensive services with an emphasis on personalized care for patients of all ages and activity levels. In addition, the practice is affiliated with five ambulatory surgery centers where advanced procedures are performed in a warm, comfortable environment on an outpatient basis.

Professionally, Dr. Ruiz also serves as Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Chairman of the Department of Medicine at St. Mary’s General Hospital in Passaic, New Jersey. 

The doctor’s acclaimed career in medicine began in 1993 when he earned his medical degree from Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He then went on to complete his internship in internal medicine, his residency in internal medicine, and his fellowship in gastroenterology at the same educational venue. In addition, he holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey.

Aided by his extensive experience, he is board-certified in gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
