Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Scott D. James, who serves patients in Plymouth, Massachusetts. 

Dr. James is an accomplished vascular surgeon whose medical interests include endovascular surgery, general surgery, and open vascular surgery. He has additional training in advanced wound therapies, hyperbaric medicine, and diving medicine.

Professionally, he serves as the Medical Director of both the Wound Healing & Hyperbaric Center and the Vein & Cosmetic Center at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital Plymouth.

Holding a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, Dr. James went on to complete his internship and residency at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship in vascular surgery at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey.

With over two decades of experience in his field, the doctor is board-certified in general surgery and vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Vascular surgery is a surgical subspecialty in which diseases of the vascular system, including the arteries, veins, and lymphatic circulation, are managed by medical therapy, minimally-invasive catheter procedures, and surgical reconstruction. A vascular surgeon diagnoses, treats, and manages conditions in the arteries and veins, also called the blood vessels.
