Get to know Anesthesiologist & Pain Management Specialist Dr. Alexander Sinofsky, who serves patients in Louisville, Kentucky.

A specialist in the field of interventional pain management and anesthesiology, Dr. Sinofsky practices alongside Dr. Brandon Sutton, MD, at Ohio Valley Pain Institute in Louisville, Kentucky.

Ohio Valley Pain Institute offers comprehensive pain management that includes: medical treatments, interventional techniques, as well as coordinating access to surgical specialists, physical therapy, nutritional consults and psychological counseling. Drs. Sutton and Sinofsky first perform a detailed history and physical exam along with using advanced diagnostics, to precisely target the source of pain with a combination of therapies. By implementing evidence-based, multimodal treatment plans, the clinic aims to minimize patients’ dependence on opioids while improving their long-term health, function, and quality of life in the battle against chronic pain and the opioid crisis.

Growing up in the New York City area, Dr. Sinofsky graduated with a degree in neuroscience from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland and obtained his medical degree from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. Subsequently, he completed a residency in anesthesiology at New York University Langone Medical Center followed by a fellowship in pain medicine at the University of Maryland. 

A member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists, the doctor is board-certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology (ABA). As the certifying body for anesthesiologists since 1938, the ABA is committed to partnering with physicians to advance lifelong learning and exceptional patient care. Its mission is to advance the highest standards of the practice of anesthesiology. 

Pain management is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. A pain management specialist is a doctor who specializes in pain medicine, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain.

Having been published in national journals in both pain medicine and anesthesiology, Dr. Sinofsky has also been a contributing author in recent textbooks. His previous research has focused on low back pain and novel treatments for facial pain.

As a testament to his success, he has been the recipient of Patients’ Choice Award (2018) and On-Time Doctor Award (2018).
