Dr. Perry-Gilkes first came to Atlanta to attend Spelman College. Her academic travels then took her to Washington, D.C., where she earned her medical degree from the Howard University School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in otolaryngology at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center in Los Angeles.

Licensed to practice medicine in Georgia, Dr. Perry-Gilkes is affiliated with WellStar Atlanta Medical Center and Southern Regional Medical Center.
Serving as President of the Medical Association of Georgia, she is also a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, and a member of the Medical Association of Atlanta.
