Dr. Pletsch graduated with her medical degree in 1962 from the University of Toronto. She then completed an internship in 1963 and then a three year residency from Cook County Hospital. After obtaining her medical degree, Dr. Marie E. Pletsch completed an internship in 1963 and then a three year residency from Cook County Hospital.
