Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Mufaddal Hamadeh, who serves patients in Tinley Park, Illinois.

A professional in the fields of hematology and oncology, Dr. Hamadeh is in practice with Alpha Med Physicians Group, LLC in Tinley Park, Illinois. It is a community-based cancer treatment center offering the very highest standard of care backed by experience, compassion, and commitment.

“When I first started practicing oncology, we had limited options for treating cancer. But we’ve grown light years in our understanding of cancer… and of how best to treat it. His clinical interests include anemia, biopsy – fine needle aspiration, blood transfusion, breast cancer, chemotherapy, gastric cancer, head and neck cancer, hematology, hemochromatosis, Hodgkin’s disease, kidney cancer, leukemia, lung cancer, melanoma, mesothelioma, multiple myeloma, oncology, ovarian cancer, peripheral stem cell transplant, prostate cancer, skin cancer, testicular cancer, tumors, and uterine cancer. 

In practice since 1991, Dr. Hamadeh is affiliated with Advocate Christ Medical Center, Palos Hospital, Franciscan Health Olympia Fields, Silver Cross Hospital, UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial, and OSF Saint Francis Medical Center.

Prior to his current endeavours, he served as the Chairman of the Department of Medicine at Advocate South Suburban Hospital from 2004 until 2007.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Hamadeh graduated with his medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Damascus in Syria in 1983. He then went on to perform his internship at Syrian Army Hospitals and Clinics, after which he relocated to the United States. Once there, he completed his residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital & Medical Center in 1991, followed by his fellowship in hematology-oncology at the University of Illinois at Chicago in 1994.

As a testament to his success, he is board-certified in hematology and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Hamadeh remains an active member of the Syrian American Medical Society, Midwest Chapter (President) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of diseases related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, malignant blood diseases such as leukemia, lymphoma, and multiple myeloma, and blood disorders such as iron-deficiency anemia, clotting abnormalities, hemophilia, and sickle-cell disease.

Among his philanthropic endeavours, Dr. Hamadeh has been involved with the Syrian American Medical Society Foundation, a global medical relief organization that is working on the front lines of crisis relief in Syria, in neighboring countries, and beyond to save lives and alleviate suffering. He has also served as the President of over 10 medical mission trips to help refugees.

On a more personal note, he enjoys motorcycling riding. His favorite place to vacation is Istanbul, Turkey. He speaks both English and Arabic.
