Get to know Pediatrician Dr. Tonya Goolsby, who serves patients in Sherman, Texas.

Dr. Goolsby, a highly regarded pediatrician, is a valued member of the medical team at TPG Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine in Sherman, Texas. Her practice encompasses routine general pediatrics and the management of pediatric urgent care issues.

She also serves as a training mentor for medical students, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants for several medical schools and colleges in the region.

A 1991 graduate of Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Goolsby went on to perform her residency in pediatrics at Texas Children’s Hospital in 1994.  

After practicing in Madison, Alabama since 1997, she returned home to the Texoma area in 2020, where she joined TPG Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine.

Board certified in pediatrics, Dr. Goolsby holds the prestigious title of Diplomate, conferred by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP). The mission of the ABP is to advance child health by certifying pediatricians who meet standards of excellence and are committed to continuous learning and improvement.

Professionally, Dr. Goolsby is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and a member of the Texas Pediatric Society.  She also serves as a training mentor for medical students, residents, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants for several medical schools and colleges in the region. 

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine that involves the medical care of infants, children, and adolescents. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends people be under pediatric care up to the age of 21. Pediatricians provide medical care to people ranging in age from newborns to young adults. They are trained to examine, diagnose, and treat children with a wide variety of injuries and illnesses through all of their developmental stages, as they grow and mature.

Happily married, Dr. Goolsby and her husband, Mike Goolsby, reside in Sherman along with their four children and three dogs. Her hobbies include reading, cooking, golfing, and watching her boys and her husband play ice hockey.
