Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Allison A. Urrutia, who serves patients in Austin, Texas.

With a focus on minimally invasive surgery, Dr. Urrutia is a trusted obstetrician-gynecologist at Gynics Associates in Austin, Texas. She is committed to building a trusting relationship through each office visit. By creating a warm and inviting atmosphere, her patients feel at home.

As a liaison for Austin Area Birth Center, she works together to promote healthy pregnancies and deliveries. Her gynecologic expertise includes preconceptual counseling, contraceptive management, infertility evaluation and treatment, treatment of abnormal pap smears, menstrual problems, menopause, and hormone replacement therapy. Her obstetric practice includes expertise in both routine and high risk pregnancy care. 

As the eighth of twelve children, Dr. Urrutia’s interest in obstetrics began at a young age. She was born in Ohio and relocated to Austin upon completion of medical school at Northeastern Ohio Medical University in 2007. She then completed her training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Austin in 2011. While in training, she began her family with the birth of her two children, Emma and Oliver.

Recognized as one of the Texas Top Doctors 2021 in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Urrutia provides personalized obstetrical and gynecological care for patients of all ages. She is an advocate for preventative care for women throughout their lives, including annual well woman exams and women’s healthcare screening. She has served as the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. David’s Medical Center from 2017-2019 and 2021-present.

Certified in da Vinci robotic surgery and single incision laparoscopic surgery, she is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Dr. Urrutia is an active member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, the Texas Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Texas Medical Association, and the Travis County Medical Society.

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics and gynecology. An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
