Is it normal to have pain after first chiropractic adjustment?
It is very common to feel some pain after an adjustment, or even worse. The body is used to its current alignment, even though it is wrong. As correction is made some muscles muscle tighten and some must stretch. It is a lot like the soreness after exercise, because exercises make changes to the body. Dr. David READ MORE
I have pain in my hips due to excess weight. What can I do?
I would first like to know the reason for gaining a lot of weight in six months. If you are pregnant ,it becomes a self-limiting problem. If that is not the case, you need to drastically change your eating and drinking habits. If you continue to gain weight, I would seek professional help as you could possibly have a metabolic disorder that needs to be addressed. READ MORE
My posture is getting a little slouched. What should I do?
Good Posture is a conscious decision. When you think of someone with poor posture you think of an old person. The fact that you notice the posture change is good. Now is the time to working on that. The best way to make the correction is to change your environment. Get chairs that allow you to sit up straight. If your keyboard or monitor are too low fix that. Stand with your back against the wall. This is the best position for your posture to be in. Best of success to you. It is worth the effort. READ MORE
I have undergone about 5 X-rays in the last 2 months for my spinal problem. Are there any risks?
Five views of the spine are reasonable to rule out fracture and pathology. One needs to find out the cause in order to properly eliminate the problem. If the x-rays are negative or inconclusive look to the muscles (tension or weakness) or metabolic problems that could lead to inflammation. Even gout can settle in the back and cause problems. Best of success to you! READ MORE
My father has a disc problem. Should we go for physiotherapy or surgery?
Consider a Chiropractic exam with possible decompression. Most of my patients have "disc problems." Surgery may be required, but often a more conservative approach can be helpful. I hope for the best for you. READ MORE
I have a problem with my posture that is causing back pain. What should I do?
Stand with your back against the wall. Your head shoulders and butt should touch the wall. This is the best posture. It requires effort to maintain. Over time the discs and vertebra can degenerate. If this happens it may not be possible for a fully correct posture. Do the best you can. It has been proven that posture can even effect attitude and health. If your head is tilted way forward try going to bed with a towel rolled up behind your neck. The head should not touch the bed. Do that for 10 minutes each night. It will slowly help. Anything you do to improve posture will be worth the effort. Best of health to you!! READ MORE
I am having pain in my buttocks when I sit. What could this be?
Pain is usually the last symptom to show up and the first to leave. There are always three components to any health problem. Physical (mechanical), which you tried to eliminate by removing the wallet. It could also be the work you do. Sitting, standing, lifting, leaning over etc., which could cause injury to the back. Even the bed we sleep in or chairs we use can affect the low back. There is always the emotional component, which will tighten muscles and create dysfunction from stress, anxiety, fear, anger, etc. The third component is chemical. Toxicity from things we eat, drink, rub or spray on our bodies. Food sensitivities, toxins from "bugs" we are exposed to, and lack of nutrients can all cause muscles and other structures to tighten (spasm) or weaken. I would suggest you find someone to discover the cause of your pain, not just cover it with drugs. READ MORE
I have a frozen shoulder. What should I do?
I would recommend slow movement exercises building up. I would look into Ultrasound therapy, Acupuncture, and Laser. Proteolytic enzymes would be helpful as well. Best of success. READ MORE
