    The most common side effect of general anesthesia is post operative nausea and vomiting. However, 2 days later is not typically related to general anesthesia at that point. More commonly the patient is on pain medication post surgery. The most common side effect of narcotic pain medications are nausea and vomiting. This can be reduced by taking the pain medication with food.
