Being a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Nanson has a special interest in reconstructive joint surgery with emphasis on hip and knee reconstruction. He specializes in the direct anterior approach, one of the minimally invasive techniques used in hip replacement surgery. He is also trained and certified in robotic-assisted MAKO partial knee resurfacing and total knee and hip replacements.
In practice since 2009, Dr. Nanson sees patients at Orthopedics Northwest in Tigard, Oregon. The practice consists of board-certified orthopedic physicians and certified physician assistants along with a clinical and administrative support team whose mission is to improve patients’ level of health and return them to their active lifestyle. He then went on to earn his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He completed a surgical residency program at Phoenix Orthopedic Surgery, followed by an orthopedic residency program at the University of Arizona in Tucson. Thereafter, he completed an adult reconstructive surgery fellowship program at OrthoCarolina Hip and Knee Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In order to stay up to date in his field, he remains a member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the North Pacific Orthopedic Society, the Oregon Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, and the Western Orthopedic Society.
Furthermore, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons, as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
