Dr. Preminger is a plastic surgeon serving New York at her private practice, P. Aviva Preminger MD Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. There she specializes in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast, and body. 

Her career began when Dr. Preminger earned her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. Dr. Preminger then completed her surgical training at the prestigious New York Presbyterian Hospital-Cornell/Columbia where she had the opportunity to train under some of the most renowned cosmetic and reconstructive surgeons in New York City. She earned a Masters Degree in Public Health from Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public Health. She also completed a Clinical Research Fellowship in Breast Surgery at Memorial Sloan Kettering.

To stay up to date in her field, Dr. Preminger is active in several plastic surgery societies and serves on the Board of the New York Regional Society of Plastic Surgeons and the New York State Society of Plastic Surgeons. She is also a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. In 2015, she became a member of the medical advisory board of Sharsheret, a national non-profit organization benefiting young Jewish women with breast cancer. 

Academically, Dr. Preminger holds an adjunct faculty position at Cornell University Medical College and is actively involved in teaching medical students about medical professionalism and medical ethics. She is also actively involved in teaching plastic surgery residents and fellows. She possesses a unique interest in professionalism and ethics in plastic surgery. 

Due to her expertise, Dr. Preminger won the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation’s Arts and Science Essay Contest for her essay on professionalism and plastic surgery, she has also published about ethical issues in plastic surgery. Dr. Preminger maintains privileges at several prominent New York hospitals including Lenox Hill, Manhattan Eye and Ear Infirmary, New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and St. Luke’s- Roosevelt.

 A native New Yorker, wife, and mother of three young children including twins, Dr. Preminger enjoys spending time with her family when not in the office. She is also an avid swimmer. Dr. Preminger prides herself on her warmth, honesty, compassion, and patience. She focuses on the individual patient and cares to tailor the patient encounter to each patient’s unique needs. As a female surgeon and mother, she is particularly sensitive to the needs of women and young mothers who want to look their best.
