Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Anand M. Gupta, who serves patients in Louisville, Kentucky.

As a board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. Gupta has performed over 40,000 endoscopic procedures and has published articles in numerous peer-reviewed scientific journals. He is currently serving patients at Kentuckiana Gastroenterology & Paramount Surgery Center in Louisville, Kentucky. “At Kentuckiana Gastroenterology & Paramount Surgery Center, we believe that each patient and doctor become a team for treating an individual’s digestive problems. In the states of Kentucky and Indiana, Dr. Gupta is also affiliated with Baptist Health Louisville and Baptist Health Floyd. Outside of his work as a gastroenterologist, he regularly attends local and national scientific meetings. He also participates in scientific speaking engagements. 

In 1984, Dr. Gupta earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. Upon relocating to the United States, he went on to complete his internal medicine training at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Thereafter, he completed his fellowship training in gastroenterology and hepatology at the prestigious Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, New York, where he also received extensive therapeutic endoscopy training. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology (FACG), Dr. Gupta is an active member of various national organizations such as the American College of Gastroenterology, the American Gastroenterological Association, and the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopists. Locally, he is a member of the Kentucky Medical Association and the Greater Louisville Medical Society.  

Furthermore, he is board-certified in gastroenterology and hepatology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. Diseases affecting the gastrointestinal tract, which includes the organs from mouth to the anus, along the alimentary canal, are the focus of this speciality. Gastroenterologists are medical practitioners who specialize in treating conditions of the gastrointestinal tract and liver. Diseases treated by gastroenterologists typically include colon polyps, pancreatitis, peptic ulcer disease, nutritional problems, colitis, hepatitis, and gallbladder disease.
