She attended the University of Iowa and then went on to receive her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1992. She built her current Cedar Rapids office in 2000.

Wanting to further her training, she attended courses at the Pacific Aesthetic Continuum at the University of the Pacific and the Hornbrook Group Center for Advanced Clinical Education in Chicago, mastering her skills in advanced smile makeovers. She also trained at the Gerety Orthodontic Training and the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
