Hi, I'm Michael Acquista DDS. I got my dental degree from Columbia School of Dental & Oral Surgery and have been in private practice in Bay Ridge for over 30 years. My office is small and you will receive individual attention. I offer the best ways to prevent tooth decay and gum disease, the best Cosmetic Dentistry and esthetics, filling materials, crowns, bridges, implant restorations and dentures. How long does the dental implant process take?
First the tooth is extracted and bone grafted, if indicated. 2months later, the implant is placed. 2 months after that, it can be restored. If no tooth is present, the bone graft is often placed and that takes 2 months. Next , you see the restorative dentist who takes an impression and it takes 2 weeks for the crown. So about 5 months. What are your views on dental sealants for adults?
They are just as effective for adults and I am in favor of using them READ MORE
Can laser therapy be used to treat gum disease?
Certainly. I use it on some of my patients. It sterilizes as it removes sick gum tissue, sealing blood vessels and nerve endings, but hard buildup of tartar(calculus) must still be scraped off with conventional cavitron ultrasonics and hand scaling. Can I clean under a bridge?

10 years is considered successful. They usually need to be relined after 3-5 yrs. because the underlying gum tissue slowly recedes, compromising the fit. READ MORE
