Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Damaris Olagundoye, who serves patients in Smyrna, Tennessee.

A top professional in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, Dr. Olagundoye sees patients at the Smyrna Clinic of Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center.

Since 1968, Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center has provided high-quality affordable care for underinsured and uninsured Middle Tennesseans. With a “comprehensive” approach, the practice focuses on providing preventive and primary healthcare for the whole person and the whole family in one place.

With over 12 years of experience in the field, Dr. Olagundoye enjoys working at Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center because it allows her a unique opportunity to serve a community that is disproportionately affected by health disparities. In this role, she sees that she can truly make a difference, one patient at a time.

Regarding her educational background, she graduated with her medical degree and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Meharry Medical College.

A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the doctor is board-certified  in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The mission of the ABOG is to define specialty standards, certify obstetricians and gynecologists, and facilitate continuous learning to advance knowledge, practice, and professionalism in women’s health.

Obstetrics and gynecology (OB-GYN) is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts).

As a testament of her dedication to her patients, Dr. Olagundoye has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award in 2012.

On a more personal note, she is fluent in both English and Spanish.
