Stephen A. Notably, Dr. Carter has been the Medical Director for Access Urgent Care in Schertz, Texas, since April 2021, where he oversees a team of three mid-level providers, ensuring high-quality urgent care services are available to patients.
In addition to his clinical roles, Dr. Carter has been a Class A/B Share Owner and emergency physician at Physicians PremiER since September 2019, dedicating two 24-hour shifts per month to enhance emergency care. His educational foundation includes a 1989 graduation from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, followed by an internship at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center and a residency in family medicine at the same institution.
Dr. Carter’s leadership capabilities were further solidified in January 2025 when he completed the Strategic Leadership in Healthcare certification from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. This achievement complements his dedication to ongoing professional development and excellence in medical practice.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine, the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine, and the American Board of Obesity Medicine, Dr. Carter is recognized for his expertise.
