Get to know Surgical Oncologist Dr. Madhu Prasad, who serves patients in Anchorage, Alaska. 

Expert surgical oncologist, Dr. Prasad is serving Anchorage and the surrounding communities. He has over 30 years of experience in providing world-class surgical procedures to his patients. Dr. Prasad and his team are committed to providing state-of-the-art healthcare and creating a culture of compassion, caring, and healing to ensure the well-being of their patients.

He is affiliated with Far North Surgery, a fully licensed and certified general surgery center in Anchorage, with a special focus on surgical oncology and endocrine surgery. They are committed to providing, safe and successful surgical procedures by combining best-in-class patient care with state-of-the-art equipment. 

Previously, Dr. Madhu Prasad was the Chief of Surgery at Karmanos Cancer Center in Detroit, Chief of GI Cancer Surgery at Henry Ford Health System in Detroit, Chief of Surgical Oncology at Wayne State University, and an associate surgeon at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. Additionally, he was a professor of surgery at Harvard Medical School. He is the Founder and Executive Director of Henry Ford Innovation Institute, Henry Ford Innovations, and Co-founder of iSurgitec.

In regards to his education, Dr. Prasad earned his Bachelor of Science with Honors in Cellular and Molecular Biology/Chemistry from the University of Michigan. He then graduated with his Medical Degree from Wayne State University and completed a research fellowship at Harvard Medical School. 

Dr. Prasad is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery. 

A surgical oncologist is a surgeon who has special training in treating cancer. A surgical oncologist may be called in to diagnose cancer with a biopsy. Surgical oncologists also treat cancer by removing tumors or other cancerous tissue.
