Dr. Summers graduated with Honors and Distinction in Research from St. Louis University School of Medicine in 1993. He completed his general surgery and plastic surgery residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin, where he served as Chief Resident. Following his residency, he further honed his skills with a fellowship in microvascular and hand surgery, focusing on reconstructive breast surgery, before finishing with a cosmetic surgery fellowship at Aesthetic Surgery Associates.

In addition to his surgical expertise, Dr. Summers is a talented artist, with his graphic artwork receiving national accolades since 1992. His work was honored in 1994 by being placed in the National Library of Medicine, showcasing his unique blend of artistry and surgical precision. He has lectured extensively across the country, sharing his knowledge and techniques with other physicians and healthcare professionals.

A trailblazer in his field, Dr. Summers made history in 2000 by performing the first series of breast reconstructions using microsurgical techniques at Anne Arundel Medical Center. His influence extends beyond the operating room, having contributed to major publications such as the Baltimore Sun and the Washington Post, and appearing on prominent television stations like WUSA-9 and FOX-45.

In 2002, Dr. Summers pioneered the establishment of the first true Medical Spa in the Mid-Atlantic region, which has since garnered numerous accolades. His center features a comprehensive array of services, including a laser center, a certified ambulatory surgery center, and a full suite of plastic surgery and dermatologic treatments in a serene, spa-like atmosphere.

Dr. Summers is particularly known for introducing minimally invasive facelift techniques to the region. His innovative One Hour Facelift procedure, which employs suture suspension techniques he developed since 1996, has made him a leading expert in minimally invasive, long-lasting facelift procedures that can be performed under local anesthesia. Patients from across the United States seek his expertise for facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime, and he is readily available to assist those dissatisfied with previous surgical results.

Continuing his commitment to advancement in the field, Dr. Summers is involved in ongoing clinical research. He has played a pivotal role in the FDA evaluation of silicone breast implants and was the first regional plastic surgeon to complete the Mentor and Allergan Physician Certification Programs for silicone gel-filled breast implants. Additionally, he is one of only three doctors selected nationally to participate in FDA clinical trials evaluating ultrasonic fat reduction treatments.

Dr. Summers’ current research interests revolve around developing new techniques to minimize scar appearance, refining non-invasive and minimally invasive skin rejuvenation protocols, and enhancing skincare therapies to improve healing and rejuvenation outcomes. He actively participates in clinical trials, serving as a principal investigator with Mentor Corporation, Allergan, and Alma Lasers.

Recognized for his proficiency in enhancing facial features with fillers, Dr. Summers was among the few plastic surgeons in the region selected to participate in the Allergan “JET Study” prior to Juvéderm’s FDA approval. With thousands of cosmetic procedures performed annually, he has earned a reputation as one of the top cosmetic surgeons in the region.

Moreover, Dr. Summers has developed an exclusive medical skincare line, PureRx®, which features one of the first antioxidant skincare product lines with medical-grade ingredients. This line reflects his extensive experience as a skincare specialist, combining his knowledge of biochemistry and physiology.
