Nihira is a highly respected and experienced physician, having been in practice for over two decades. His career in medicine began in 1994 when he graduated with his Medical Degree from the David Geffen School of Medicine at University of California, Los Angeles Public university in Los Angeles, California. After medical school, Dr. Nihira completed his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency with University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center. Driven to further his expertise and knowledge, he undertook his Urogynecology & Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery fellowship at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center and University of Maryland. Dr. Nihira is dual certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology and Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and has dedicated his life to delivering compassionate care. The sub-specialty of urogynecology, now known as female pelvic medicine & reconstructive surgery, was created in the 1990s. Urogynecologists complete medical school and do a four-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology. They then go on to do specialized training in urogynecology for three additional years. Women who had to see multiple specialists for urinary, reproductive and gastrointestinal problems can now see one urogynecologist.
