Dr. Harrison B. Solomon is a board-certified orthopaedic hand surgeon practicing in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. He is a partner at Montgomery Orthopaedics in Chevy Chase, Maryland, a division of the Centers for Advanced Orthopaedics. He completed his undergraduate education at Emory University before receiving his medical degree from NYU School of Medicine. Dr. Solomon then went on to an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Maryland, and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at the prestigious University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Dr. Solomon has been in practice since 2003. During that time, he has received many awards and accolades. He has lectured and published nationally and internationally in the field of hand surgery. He is an active member of the American Society for Surgery the Hand and a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Locally, he is a member of the Maryland Orthopaedic Association and the DC Metropolitan Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Solomon has been named a Top Doctor in the field of hand surgery by Washingtonian Magazine five times, in every published Top Doc issue since 2008. Additionally, he has been named a regional Top Doctor in the field of hand surgery by Castle Connolly 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2017. Each of these honors is based on a survey of other physicians in the Washington DC area as to whom they would choose for their own medical care. Dr. Solomon maintains privileges at Holy Cross Hospital where he has served as the Chief of Orthopaedic Surgery since 2005. There, he oversees a busy orthopaedic surgery department with more than 30 surgeons. He also is part-owner and sits on the Board of Directors at the Surgery Center of Chevy Chase, a busy outpatient center with twenty orthopaedic surgeons performing more than 5000 procedures annually. Clinically, Dr. Solomon treats all conditions of the upper extremity, from shoulder to fingertip. His focus is treating conditions conservatively yet efficiently. Special areas of interest include carpal tunnel syndrome, sports injuries, arthritis, rotator cuff disease, and fractures of the hand and wrist. Dr. Solomon resides in Bethesda, Maryland with his three children. In his spare time he enjoys travel, golf, and the ocean.

Thank you for that question. It really depends on what is causing the nerve pain. If you have nerve pain from nerve compression, such as carpal tunnel syndrome, then a brace or a Cortizone shot or surgery could help your pain.
