Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. Nathan P. McIntosh, who serves patients throughout the State of Mississippi.
Dr. McIntosh is a Mississippi emergency physician with a passion to improve healthcare. Practicing medicine has allowed him to engage with many people by providing treatments, as well as improving their health awareness and knowledge.
In collaboration with Merit Health, he is affiliated with the following hospitals: Merit Health River Oaks, Merit Health Biloxi, Merit Health Central, Merit Health Madison, Merit Health Natchez, Merit Health Rankin, Merit Health River Region, Merit Health Wesley, and Merit Health Woman’s Hospital.
Upon graduating with his medical degree from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine in 2009, Dr. McIntosh went on to further his training. He performed both his internship and residency in emergency medicine at the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 2010 and 2013, respectively.
There, he began acquiring in-depth knowledge and invaluable experiences in the care of individuals from all over the state, which fueled his drive to continue developing and improving systems of care.
Dedicated to excellence, the doctor is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM). The ABEM certifies emergency physicians who meet its educational, professional, and examination standards.
Serving in leadership roles across various organizations has provided Dr. McIntosh with opportunities to be on teams designing and implementing strategies that improve the operations of healthcare delivery and the enhanced care of Mississippi patients. He is currently a Board Member of the Mississippi Cannabis Patients Alliance, striving to be a leading voice for Mississippi’s medical cannabis patients.
Emergency medicine, also known as trauma and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of life threatening medical conditions or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. Emergency physicians are trained to care for a wide range of problems that require emergent medical help. These problems are often serious and may be life-threatening.
Dr. McIntosh’s background has given him a lifetime of lessons on advocacy and improving the quality of care for all. As a Christian, he views life as having been very blessed. His goal is to use those blessings for the remainder of his life to improve the quality of life for all in his home state and beyond.
