Get to know Family Practitioner Dr. Eric R. Hansen, who serves patients in Hesperia, California.

Operating exclusively from the Hesperia, California office, Dr. Hansen is an independent family physician with affiliations to both Choice Medical Group and Choice Physicians Network. 

With a medical practice in the High Desert dating back to 2002, he emphasizes the integration of the patient’s self-healing abilities into his treatment approach. Dr. Hansen is dedicated to addressing the complete well-being of the patient, prioritizing holistic care over merely treating symptoms.

Holding academic appointments, he has been serving as an Assistant Professor at California University of Science and Medicine since 2019, and as a Clinical Instructor of Family Medicine at Western University of Health Sciences since 2010.

Growing up in Southern California, Dr. Hansen graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree from the Western University of Health Sciences – College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific in 1999.

Subsequently, he performed his internship and residency in family medicine at Burlington Memorial Hospital, followed by his fellowship in legislative advocacy.

Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Hansen is recognized as a Diplomate of the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians (AOBFP). The AOBFP is an organization that provides board certification to qualified osteopathic physicians who specialize in delivering comprehensive primary care for patients of all ages, genders, and addressing all parts of the body.

Significantly involved in healthcare policy in California, Dr. Hansen serves on the Board of Trustees for the California Medical Association. In this capacity, he represents the perspectives of independent practitioners in California to the legislature.

Alongside this, Dr. Hansen maintains active membership in various professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the American Osteopathic Association, the American Academy of Family Physicians (as a Fellow), the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, and the San Bernardino County Medical Society.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

Crediting his success to an exceptional staff, diligent work ethic, unwavering dedication, and the support of his fantastic patients, Dr. Hansen has been selected as a presenter for the 2023 ACOFP convention.

Highlighting his continuous commitment and outstanding contributions in the field of family medicine and healthcare, he is the recipient of the Dev GnanaDev Membership Award from the California Medical Association in 2015, the Nicholas P Krikes, MD Outstanding Contribution Award from the San Bernardino County Medical Society in 2019, the Best of the Desert Award for four consecutive years (2016-2019) by the Daily Press, the Presidential Award from the San Bernardino County Medical Society in 2021, and the Family Physician of Excellence Award from the California Academy of Family Physicians in 2022. 

Outside of the office, Dr. Hansen enjoys fishing, camping, hunting, reading, watching movies, and the arts.
