Get to know Gastroenterologist Dr. Prospere Remy, who serves patients in the Bronx, New York.

Dr. Remy is a board-certified gastroenterologist whose clinical focus is on abdominal pain, diarrhea, gallstones, hepatitis, nausea, vomiting, and any living conditions. He is currently serving patients at BronxCare Health System in The Bronx, New York. 

BronxCare is the largest voluntary, not-for-profit health and teaching hospital system serving the South and Central Bronx. It is also among the largest providers of outpatient services in New York City, with more than one million visits annually and an ER that is responding to 139,000 visits, one of the busiest in New York.

After earning his medical degree from Universidad Veracruzana Faculty of Medicine in Ciudad Mendoza, Mexico in 1984, Dr. Remy relocated to the United States. There, he completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology at Bronx Lebanon Hospital Center in 1990 and 1992, respectively. 

In addition to being a Fellow of the American Gastroenterological Association, the doctor is a member of the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy and the American College of Gastroenterology. 

What’s more, he is board-certified in both internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Gastroenterology is the branch of medicine focused on the digestive system and its disorders. A gastroenterologist is a physician who has extensive training in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders related to the esophagus, stomach, small intestines, colon, liver, pancreas, and biliary system.
