Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Todd Elftmann, who serves patients in Waconia, Minnesota.

Dr. Elftmann is a seasoned general surgeon who joined Lakeview Clinic in 1995. He sees patients at the office in Waconia, Minnesota. 

The doctor’s general surgical interests include robotic and conventional laparoscopic procedures; thyroid and parathyroid procedures; oncologic procedures involving the gastrointestinal tract, lung, breast, skin and soft tissue; and management of varicose vein disease, including minimally invasive radio-frequency ablation for varicose veins.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Elftmann earned his undergraduate degree at the University of St. Thomas and his medical degree at the University of Minnesota Medical School. He then completed a surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), he is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

Licensed to practice medicine in Minnesota, Dr. Elftmann is affiliated with Ridgeview Medical Center & Two Twelve Surgery Center, LLC.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care. 

Married with two children, Dr. Elftmann has lived in the south metro area most of his life. He is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys family outings, fishing, golfing, and downhill skiing.
