Innovative Specialist Combines Artistic Background with Advanced Dental Expertise

Dr. Darcey, a distinguished Board Certified Periodontist at the US Naval Postgraduate Dental School located at Walter Reed Medical Center, continues to make significant contributions to the field of periodontal dentistry. Originally hailing from Potomac, Maryland, she brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her practice, specializing in aesthetic treatments and restorative procedures for diseases affecting gum and bone tissues.

Academically, the doctor earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in 2011, where she distinguished herself academically. Following her graduation, she completed a rigorous three-year residency in periodontics at the Naval Postgraduate Dental School, receiving the prestigious Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence. Additionally, she holds a Master’s degree in Oral Biology from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences, further solidifying her expertise in the field.

Her clinical interests focus on implants in the smile zone and the correction of receding and damaged gingival tissues around implants. As a Diplomate of both the American Board of Periodontology and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Dr. Darcey is recognized for her commitment to continued professional development. She also serves on the Continuing Education Oversight Committee for the American Academy of Periodontology, where she actively contributes to the advancement of periodontal education.

Her unique background enriches her surgical practice. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Pratt Institute of Art and Design, she spent several years in the arts, including a role at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, before transitioning to dentistry. Her artistic sensibility enhances her approach to aesthetic dental procedures, allowing her to create natural-looking results for her patients.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr. Darcey has served in various capacities within the U.S. Navy, stationed in Bethesda, Norfolk, and Annapolis, MD. Her dedication to patient care and her innovative approach to periodontal treatment continue to enhance the health and confidence of her patients at Walter Reed Medical Center.
