Get to know General Surgeon Dr. Wadi Gomero-Cure, who serves patients in Venice, Florida.

A board-certified general surgeon, Dr. Gomero-Cure is affiliated with First Physicians Group of Sarasota, performing a wide-range of complex open vascular surgery, endovascular surgery, minimally invasive and robotic general surgery. He specializes in the full spectrum of general surgery and his interests include abdominal aneurysm surgery, carotid surgery, peripheral arterial disease, hemodialysis access, vein disorders, limb salvage, skin cancers, wound care, robotic and laparoscopic procedures for GI cancers, gallbladder disease, colorectal disease, and hernia repair.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Gomero-Cure earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota Medical School in 2008, and completed his residency in general surgery at the University of South Florida College of Medicine/ Washington Hospital Center.

Distinguished as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), the doctor is board-certified in general surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, non-profit organization located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge.

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small bowel, colon, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. A general surgeon performs a wide range of abdominal surgeries for many forms of intestinal and abdominal wall neoplasms, gallbladder disease, gastric and pancreatic disease. They follow the patient through critical care and surgical recovery all the way to outpatient care.
