Get to know Emergency Physician Dr. David Abebefe, who serves patients in Denison, Texas.

Dr. Abebefe is an experienced emergency physician who is affiliated with Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas.

There are more than 3,500 employees; 400-plus active, courtesy and consulting physicians on staff; and over 120 volunteers at Texoma Medical Center who are experienced and trained to meet the healthcare needs of patients and their families. The main campus is located in Denison,  approximately one hour north of the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex and just south of the Texas/Oklahoma border. 

The hospital’s services include cardiology with a specialty in open heart surgery, robotic surgery, neurosurgery, orthopedics, stroke care, bariatric (weight-loss) surgery, emergency medicine, rehabilitation, and more. 

Academically, Dr. Abebefe graduated with his medical degree from the University of Ibadan, College of Medicine in Nigeria in 1987. He then relocated to the United States, completing his residency in pediatrics at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and his residency in internal medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School in 1991 and 1994, respectively. 

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, he is board-certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties (ABPS). The official certifying body for the American Association of Physician Specialists, the ABPS is a non-profit umbrella organization for sixteen medical specialty boards that certifies and re-certifies physicians in fourteen medical specialties in the United States and Canada.

Emergency medicine, also known as trauma and emergency medicine, is the medical specialty concerned with the care of life threatening medical conditions or injuries requiring immediate medical attention. They are trained to care for a wide range of problems that require emergent medical help. These problems are often serious and may be life-threatening.
