He also served as Chairman of Surgery and Director of Bariatric Surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center from 2012-2019.

Dr. Carryl was born in McKenzie, Guyana. After high school, he continued his studies in Trinidad and then Oakwood University in Alabama. He earned his medical degree from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in California in 1988. He then went on to complete his internship and residency in general surgery at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Carryl is board-certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery. He is also a member of the American Society of Bariatric Surgeons and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Both Dr. Carryl and Dr. Andrade have successfully performed hundreds of bariatric surgeries using the safest and most advanced weight loss surgical procedures and techniques.

Dr. Carryl’s expertise is in minimally-invasive, laparoscopic, bariatric, and robotic surgeries. He was the first surgeon in Brooklyn to perform a robotic gastric bypass in October of 2011 at New York Methodist Hospital. 

Dr. Carryl is Chairman of Surgery at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. Prior to his current endeavors, he served as Chairman of Surgery at Brooklyn Hospital from 2003–2010 where he developed their Weight Loss Surgery Department.
