Get to know Cardiologist Dr. Shehzad M. Malik, who serves patients in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Recognized as an accomplished cardiologist, Dr. Malik is in practice with The Heart Care Group, PC in Allentown, Pennsylvania. It is the largest independent outpatient cardiac group in the Lehigh Valley specializing in non-invasive cardiac care.

In his current capacity, Dr. Malik also serves as the Co-Director of Cardiac Rehabilitation at Lehigh Valley Hospital – Cedar Crest. It is the largest hospital in the Lehigh Valley and the flagship hospital of Lehigh Valley Health Network.

A Diplomate of the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology, the doctor is board-certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

A 2001 graduate of St. George’s University School of Medicine in the West Indies, Dr. Malik relocated to the United States to further his training. He served his internship in internal medicine, his residency in internal medicine, and his fellowship in cardiology at Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia. 

Cardiology is a branch of medicine that deals with the disorders of the heart, as well as the circulatory system. The field includes medical diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, heart failure, valvular heart disease, and electrophysiology. Cardiologists are doctors who diagnose, assess, and treat patients with diseases and defects of the heart and blood vessels (the cardiovascular system).

Outside of the office, Dr. Malik enjoys spending time with family and helps to run a free medical clinic in the Lehigh Valley.
