The mission of Princeton Hypertension-Nephrology Associates is to provide the highest level of care for patients with kidney disorders and elevated blood pressure. All of the physicians are board-certified in nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and have been certified as Designated Specialists in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.

Graduating with her high school diploma from West Windsor Plainsboro South, Dr. Basi went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Northwestern University. Pursuing medical training, she completed her medical degree at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine in 1999. From there, she went on to perform her residency in internal medicine at Baylor College of Medicine, and her fellowship in nephrology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. She also holds a Master of Science degree in Clinical Investigation from Vanderbilt University.

A Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN), she is designated as a Specialist in Clinical Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in both internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

In her official capacity, Dr. Basi serves medical directorships at DaVita Princeton Junction Dialysis and DaVita Monroe Dialysis. She is also a Clinical Associate Professor at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in Piscataway, New Jersey.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care when the time comes. 

The doctor’s research efforts include: Improving the Provision of Mental Health Care for Patients with End Stage Renal Disease and their Caregivers (2017-2018); Collaborative Study Group Trial of Pyridorin in Overt Diabetic Nephropathy (Phase IIb – 2009-2010); Altitude Study: Examining Effect of Renin-inhibitor Aliskiren on Cardiovascular and Renal Outcomes (Phase IV – 2007-2010); and The Effect of Sulodexide in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes and Microalbuminuria or Overt Diabetic Nephropathy (Collaborative Study Group) (Phase III – 2005-2008).

Among her various awards and honors, Dr. Basi has been the recipient of: the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Tier A Pipeline to Proposal Award (2017); the Davita Core Value Award (2017); the Volunteer Faculty Award – Rutgers-RWJMS (2014); the Excellence in Teaching Award, St.Peter’s University Hospital/Drexel University College of Medicine (2006 & 2007); and the Award for Excellence in Ambulatory Medicine, Baylor College of Medicine (2002), to name a few.
