  • My eye drops are getting into my mouth. Should I be concerned?

Eye drops will tend to drain through your tear ducts in the lower lid into your nasal passages and down into the back of the throat. This is common and normal. It may help to drink some water to dilute the "taste" of the drops.  I hope this helps! Tanya Markis-Meyer, OD READ MORE

  • Why are my eyes so sensitive to light?

Hello, Moat likely your eyes are just sensitive to light- this can be caused by a side effect of certain medications, dry eyes, allergies and or certain systemic conditions such as diabetes also. I would suggest a good pair of polarized sunglasses even on cloudy days for Uv protection and to shield your eyes from glare. Tanya Markis-Meyer,OD READ MORE

  • I can't stand to wear contacts

  • What exactly is glaucoma?

Glaucoma is a condition in which the pressure of the fluid in the eye can be high enough to cause damage to the optic nerve and peripheral vision. One way to prevent it is to have your eye pressure checked through a routine eye examination. It is often a "silent" disease in which a person would not know if their eye pressure is high or not. • Diabetes and eye health

Diabetes can affect vision and possibly, the retinal tissue. We can see diabetic retinopathy, in which blood can leak out of the small weakened vessels in the retina into the retinal tissue. Vision may be affected when blood sugar levels are high, where a person can become more nearsighted with those shifts and have more difficulty seeing at a distance. We recommend yearly eye examinations with a dilation of the pupils to determine the state of the retinal health for our diabetic patients. READ MORE

  • Can eyesight ever get better on its own?

It is difficult to determine the cause of your vision deterioration unless we know where your prescription has started from or other factors that might be hindering your sight. I would suggest a routine eye exam if you haven't had one in over 1 year to determine possibilities. READ MORE
