Dr. Julian Ambrus Jr. is a board certified allergist-immunologist on the Immunology and Metabolic Disease team at Invision Health, the premier healthcare provider in the Buffalo Niagara region.

Bringing his expertise to the forefront, Dr. Ambrus Jr. aids in diagnosing and managing a wide array of immunological and rheumatological disorders, including vasculitis, inflammatory arthritis, SLE, inflammatory muscle diseases, autoinflammatory syndromes, adult-onset immunodeficiencies, Raynaud’s, antiphospholipid antibody syndrome, and various other autoimmune disorders. He collaborates with the staff at Invision Health and all the physicians in the Buffalo community to make sure that each patient gets the care that they deserve.

With over two decades of experience, Dr. Ambrus Jr. has been at the forefront of identifying metabolic disorders underlying common symptoms such as fatigue, exercise intolerance, gastrointestinal dysmotility, recurrent infections, and accelerated osteoarthritis. His dedication to advancing patient care has led him to a desire to establish a center at Invision Health that will continue to improve the diagnosis and treatment of all types of metabolic disorders, some of which are inherited and some of which are acquired in the setting of infections, hypoxia and/or various toxin exposures.

A native of Buffalo, Dr. Ambrus Jr. earned his Medical Degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University before further specializing in immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony Fauci. His extensive background includes tenures at Washington University School of Medicine and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he currently serves as a Professor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology.

Dr. Ambrus Jr.’s commitment to cutting-edge research is exemplified by his pioneering work in developing an animal model for Sjogren’s Syndrome, leading to breakthroughs in disease understanding and potential therapeutic avenues. He looks forward to establishing a Sjogren’s Center at Invision Health that will provide expert management to patients with Sjogren’s syndrome while collaborating with pharmaceutical companies to drive innovation in treatment options.

A standout in his field, Dr. Ambrus Jr. is board certified in allergy and immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology, and in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Among his notable accolades include Senior Biology Division (1970), Dr. Norman Chassin Award for Outstanding Intern in Internal Medicine (1980), PHS Letter of Commendation (1989), Laureate Award American College of Physicians (2010), and Visionary Innovator Award (2013), underscoring his unwavering dedication to advancing patient care and medical research.
