Dr. Julian L. Ambrus Jr. is a Buffalo native who trained in Immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with Dr. Anthony Fauci. With extensive expertise in autoimmune diseases, he is board certified in Internal Medicine and Allergy/Immunology. Dr. Ambrus previously served as a tenured Associate Professor at Washington University School of Medicine before returning to Buffalo, where he is now a Professor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine. Dr. Ambrus has developed an animal model for Sjogren's syndrome, leading to new diagnostic tests and potential therapies. His NIH-funded laboratory continues to investigate the evolution of this disease. Over the past 20+ years, Dr. Ambrus has identified metabolic disorders underlying symptoms such as fatigue, exercise intolerance, and recurrent infections. He has helped develop strategies for diagnosing and treating these disorders. At Invision Health, Dr. Ambrus focuses on diagnosing and managing a range of immunological and rheumatological disorders, including vasculitis, inflammatory arthritis, and autoimmune syndromes. He collaborates with local physicians to ensure comprehensive patient care and looks forward to establishing specialized centers to advance treatment and research in these areas.

His dedication to advancing patient care has led him to a desire to establish a center at Invision Health that will continue to improve the diagnosis and treatment of all types of metabolic disorders, some of which are inherited and some of which are acquired in the setting of infections, hypoxia and/or various toxin exposures.
A native of Buffalo, Dr. Ambrus Jr. earned his Medical Degree from Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University before further specializing in immunology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) under the mentorship of Dr. Anthony Fauci. His extensive background includes tenures at Washington University School of Medicine and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine, where he currently serves as a Professor in the Division of Allergy, Immunology, and Rheumatology.
Dr. Ambrus Jr.’s commitment to cutting-edge research is exemplified by his pioneering work in developing an animal model for Sjogren’s Syndrome, leading to breakthroughs in disease understanding and potential therapeutic avenues.
