Dr. Abdulhai is in practice at University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System in Chicago, Illinois. He aims to provide the highest quality of care to his patients by educating them about their illness and offering a personalized care plan that utilizes a multidisciplinary approach and the latest in cutting edge surgical technology and medicine.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Abdulhai graduated with his medical degree from the Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar in 2014. After relocating to the United States, he completed his residency in General Surgery at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts in 2019. He then completed a fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cook County Health and University of Illinois in Chicago program in 2020.

Dr. Abdulhai practices in the Division of Colon & Rectal Surgery at UI Health which specializes in the evaluation, diagnosis, and surgical treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum, and anus. The team of surgeons work closely with other specialists to determine the best treatment plan for each individual patient, and they use the latest techniques in the evaluation and treatment of patients. At surgery, they focus on minimally invasive techniques for more successful procedures and faster recoveries.

In pursuit of clinical excellence, the doctor is board-certified in both colon and rectal surgery and general surgery by the American Board of Colorectal Surgery (ABCRS) and the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABCRS and ABS are both an independent, non-profit organization founded for the purpose of certifying surgeons who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge. 

Colorectal surgery is a field in medicine dealing with disorders of the rectum, anus, and colon. It covers caring for patients with cancers of the colon, rectum and anus along with other benign disorders like inflammatory bowel disease (Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease), diverticulitis and a myriad of anorectal pathologies like hemorrhoids, fistulas, abscesses and fissures. 

Dr. Abdulhai is fluent in both English and Arabic.
