Dr. Tharwani completed his medical degree, followed by general psychiatry training at West Virginia University’s School of Medicine, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership as co-chief resident and was awarded “Best Resident of the Year” twice. His commitment to advancing the field continued at Harvard Medical School’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, leading to a prestigious fellowship in psychopharmacology research at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
Board-certified in general psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry, Dr. Tharwani has spent 19 years as a faculty member at Duke University, where he served as a senior associate professor and medical director. His dedication to education and mentorship was recognized in 2005 when he received the “Best Teacher of the Year” award from the American Psychiatric Association. Among his many accolades are the “Compassionate Doctor Recognition,” the “On-Time Doctor Award,” and multiple “Patient’s Choice Awards,” reflecting his commitment to patient-centered care.
