Get to know Hand and Upper Extremity Orthopedic Surgeon, Dr. Chris C. Huang, who serves patients in Illinois

A leader in orthopedic surgery and hand and upper extremity surgery and pathology, Dr. Huang sees patients at DuPage Medical Group at their locations in Lombard and Westmont, Illinois. He is affiliated with Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital, Elmhurst Hospital, and Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital.

In 2003, Dr. Huang commenced his remarkable journey in the medical arena armed with a medical degree acquired at Rush University Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. He then pursued an orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago (2004-2008). An advocate of excellence, he became fellowship-trained in surgery of the hand at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (2008 – 2009). 

Dr. Huang attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and surgery of the hand through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. It is a member of the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Orthopaedic surgery or orthopaedics, is the branch of surgery concerned with conditions involving the musculoskeletal system. Orthopaedic surgeons use both surgical and nonsurgical means to treat musculoskeletal trauma, sports injuries, degenerative diseases and congenital disorders.

Hand surgery is the field of medicine that deals with problems of the hand, wrist, and forearm. Hand surgeons care for these problems with and without surgery. They are specially trained to operate when necessary. Many hand surgeons are also experts in diagnosing and caring for shoulder and elbow problems.
