Get to know Anesthesiologist and Pain Management Specialist Dr. Jeff Arthur, who serves the Texas area at his private practice, at Fondren Orthopedic Group, and at several local hospitals.

Dr. Arthur earned his medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. He then continued his studies with residencies at the Baylor University Medical Center and Texas Tech University at Lubbock. He also a fellowship in interventional pain medicine. He has been board certified in Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine by the American Board of Anesthesiology.

Upon completing his training, Dr. Arthur was on the faculty as an assistant professor at Texas Tech University Medical School and also served as the director of the cancer pain service. Dr. Arthur began his private practice  in 1996 and is currently on staff at several hospitals, including: the Memorial Herman Surgical Hospital, Kingwood Hospital, Memorial Herman Hospital in The Woodlands, Memorial Herman Surgery Center in Conroe, and Texas Orthopedic Hospital in Houston. He also serves as an expert in pain medicine for the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners.

Dr. Arthur specializes in the treatment of spine and nerve related pain as well as cancer related pain through a variety of treatments such as radiographically guided epidural steroid injections, spinal cord stimulation, and kyphoplasty for vertebral compression fractures. He is also one of the few providers in the area offering Superion Interspinal Spacer for the treatment of spinal stenosis.

A pain management specialist is a physician with special training in evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of all different types of pain. Pain is actually a wide spectrum of disorders including acute pain, chronic pain and cancer pain and sometimes a combination of these. Pain can also arise for many different reasons such as surgery, injury, nerve damage, and metabolic problems such as diabetes. Occasionally, pain can even be the problem all by itself, without any obvious cause at all.

Dr. Arthur has written numerous articles on spinal pain diagnostics and therapeutics, which has furthered the field of pain management. He also maintains professional memberships in prestigious medical organizations, which allows him to stay current in the field. In addition to his domestic medical practice, Dr. Arthur has participated in many medical mission trips to serve the impoverished areas surrounding Lima, Peru. When he is not volunteering or seeing patients, Dr. Arthur enjoys spending time with friends and family members.
